Using embossing folders as the feature of a card - Thanks & Hello

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. Today's blog is all about using embossing folders as the feature of a card. I hope you like what I've made!

How gorgeous are the colours in this card? I've used just 2 tones for this card, green & white. Starting with a Granny Apple Green base I added a piece of Basic White which I embossed with the 'Thanks' embossing folder after blending some Parakeet Party ink in one area. I then stamped some leaves from the Forever Fern stamp set in Granny Apple Green & Parakeet Party before die cutting them with the Forever Flourishing dies. I wrapped some In Colour, Parakeet Party twine around the card twice. The leaves were adhered over the twine & embossing using glue dots. A simple bow was the finishing touch for this first card. A quick, easy card but elegant & fresh.

The second card is similar in design, using just the 2 tones again but this time it's yellows & white & I added a simple piece of DSP from Fine Art Floral. I decided to create a baby card which suits the soft So Saffron Yellow beautifully. For the focus image I stamped a teddy from the All For Baby stamp set in Bumblebee but stamped it off first to soften the colour a little. The sentiment is also from All For Baby & I stamped 'Hello' first without inking up 'Little One' then did the reverse for the second part of the sentiment. I used a scrap of So Saffron behind it to make it pop on the white background. A tiny gold shimmer ribbon bow & some dimensionals were all that was needed to finish the card off.

So that's it for another week. I had so much fun creating these cards this week & I hope you enjoyed checking out my creations. Thanks for popping in. My next Mid Week blog on Wednesday shows you how to use Stampin' Write markers directly on a stamp to achieve a more colourful image on a card. Next week's regular blog will feature a Christmas Card! I know it's still months until Christmas but I like to get started well in advance because before you know it Christmas will be only weeks away! I hope you can join me for both of these blogs.
