Beautiful creations are easy with Best Butterflies

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. Today's blog features beautiful butterflies thanks to the Best Butterflies stamp set & Build A Butterfly dies.

The first card was created during a crafting session with Nancy from Nancy's Nifty Notes. Nancy holds a free crafting session each month with the theme of Mystery Stamping. It's loads of fun to create with others & keeps the brain cells active too.

With Night of Navy for the base the card is 14.9 x 21cm & scored at 4cm & 14.5cm. There are 4 pieces of Butterfly Kisses DSP, 2 on the front & 2 on the inside. 2 pieces measure 3.5 x 14.4cm & the other 2 are 6 x 14.4cm. I alternated the patterns so that there was one of each design on the front & inside but others chose to have one design on the front & the other design inside. On the centre strip inside I stamped a butterfly in Parakeet Party & Starry Sky making sure that I used the masking technique on the wings so that the body was just one pure colour - Calypso Coral. So that's the inside done.

Now for the front. The front panel is 7 x 11cm & I chose the contrast of Parakeet Party instead of Night of Navy. I stamped a large butterfly using starry Sky, Parakeet Party & Calypso Coral on a piece of Basic White measuring 6.5 x 10.5. I used part of one of the stamps to stamp 'sending', adding some dots with a Stampin' Write marker. I then stamped 'all the love' onto a scrap of Basic White & die cut with a Stitched Shapes circle then backed it with Starry Sky. This panel was centred on the closed card, making sure to only use adhesive where it would rest on the left panel. The circles were added & remain within the area of the closed card. I love that the card is quite simple but is a happy card with the bright & cheery colours.

The second card uses the same colours but is a portrait style with embossing  & diecut butterflies as the feature rather than stamping.

The embossing folder is the delicate Pretty Flowers which I thought was a perfect base for Butterflies! I diecut 2 different butterflies in Parakeet Party. I stamped the body in Soft Suede on Crumb Cake then die cut it. The wings were attached then I mounted the butterflies with some dimensionals. I used a retired die for the sentiment, Detailed Bands. I loved the swirly effect & the band extending to the edge of the card. I raised the sentiment slightly with a double application of mini glue dots. It helped to give it just a little bit of depth. I then used another diecut butterfly for the inside of the card & it was finished!
