Oranges & Lemons!

 Hello, welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. If this is your first time here, thanks for visiting, I hope you enjoy what I have to share with you. If you're a returning visitor, thank you so much for supporting me! 😍

Today's creation uses the 3D hinged cigar box I featured in my Mid Week blog as my starting point. I have used the Sweet Citrus stamp set & dies to decorate the box plus I've added a beautiful card made with the same stamps & dies as well as the hybrid embossing folder that is part of the bundle. I hope you enjoy what I have created. A little warning though, the Sweet Citrus bundle (where you save 10%) will not be available as a bundle in the new catalogue, they will be sold as seperate items so if you want these products as well as saving some money on them then you need to get your order in before the new catalogue launches on May 2nd.

I absolutely love how this project turned out! All the way through creating with this bundle I had the children's tune 'Oranges & Lemons' playing in my head & knew that I didn't want to have the fruit match the colour of the box but wanted something that complimented it.
I had a good play around with different colour combinations, using stamping off, daubers, lighter & darker tones & now have a lovely pile of oranges, lemons, limes & blood oranges to work with! I have listed all the colours used below with links to my shop if you'd like to try this out yourself.
The combination I settled on reminds me of blood oranges & looks great. I created a pile of citrus pieces with leaves & flowers & arranged them on a piece of Basic White that was embossed using the Basics 3D embossing folders. This set has 3 very versatile folders & is available in my online shop here.

This box will be gifted to a friend so I wanted a special card to go with it.

This is the card I created. I wanted it to co-ordinate with the box but not be the same so I used Granny Apple Green with the oranges this time. To create the strip I ran it through the embossing machine with the Sweet Citrus folder. I also ran the fruit images through this time to give more texture to them. Here's how they turned out...

You can see that the segments of the cut fruits plus the spots on the whole fruit have a textured finish.
I used a combination of Mini glue dots & dimensionals to raise the images at different heights & also adhered some directly to the card and the frame.

I used a Granny Apple Green frame that was left when I diecut a matte for another project as a backdrop for the fruits, leaves & flowers. The sentiment is stamped in Pumpkin Pie & backed with a scrap of Pumpkin Pie cardstock. The final step was to add some retired Fine Sparkle adhesive backed gems.

These are the finished projects. I intend to fill the cigar box with some citrus themed gifts such as hand cream & lip balm. I'm looking forward to sharing more projects made with this bundle. I mentioned that I had a different idea that I was going to try with this stamp set. I did try it & it worked but the card I want to make requires another stamp set that is in my current order. I've started on this surprise one & other cards & will share them with you in another blog.

HOT NEWS:

  1. Just a reminder that Stampin' Up® will be launching their new Annual Catalogue on May 2nd! I previously mentioned that a Mini catalogue was also being released but this was incorrect. My apologies. The next Mini catalogue is due out in September. This gives you more time to browse without wondering when the next catalogue is due! I have ordered lots of lovely goodies from the new catalogue including all of the new colours that are coming out. Stay tuned for lots of lovely creations.
  2. As mentioned in previous blogs, Stampin' Up® have announced that they will be having a 'colour refresh' which will include not only the new In Colours but a change up of the regular colours in the range. There are also some old, previously retired colours returning so if you held on to a favourite colour but are running low, here's your chance to grab some more.
  3. Don't forget the Online Exclusive products that are available now! Check out my online shop here

If you would like to purchase any of my creations that I feature in my blogs they can be found in my FaceBook shop at craftedbyalison or you can order something unique.

Well that's it for another week. Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed this post. My next post is for my mid week blog on Wednesday when I will be sharing with you how to make distressed watercolour paper to create beautiful projects with.

In next Sunday's post it's all about Mexican food with the Taco Fiesta stamp set & dies featuring so I hope you can come back to see what I've created! There are super cute stamps & dies in this collection which I'm sure you'll love. I can't wait to show you what I make! I hope you can join me again for both of these posts.

Until next time, take care & keep creating! XX Alison
