Mid Week Blog #84 - Envelope fold cards

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about.

I do love a fun fold to create a bit of a WOW factor & make a card special. This week I have a very easy style of fun fold that I hope you enjoy.

This is such an easy card to make but it's different from most other cards. Here are the materials I used to create it.

I started with a Terracotta Tile backing piece measuring 10.5cm x 14.8cm. Just the one width instead of a folded card.

Next, I cut some Basic White cardstock 20cm x 14.3cm & scored in half.

A piece of DSP from the Delicate Desert pack was added, measuring 9.5cm x 13.8cm

For the 'envelope' fold of the card I used some Dandy Designs DSP measuring 10.1cm square & scored in half diagonally.

To assemble the card you adhere the DSP to the back of the Basic White card as shown below, ensuring that the score line is positioned so that it will fold over easily.
The card is then attached to the Terracotta base.

To decorate the front I chose some images from the Zoo Crew DSP. Some were die cut, others were fussy cut. Some were already coloured, the main tiger with the purple tutu was coloured as well as the small flowers on the dancers clothes & the extra ones used to decorate.
The final step was to add some retired From My Heart faceted gems.
I haven't added a sentiment as yet but will decorate the inside & include a sentiment as well.

As you can see it is a very simple card to create. I hope you like it & choose to try it yourself. If you do, please feel free to post it on my Facebook page at craftedbyalison.

That's it for this week's post. My next blog is on Sunday & features the gorgeous Share a Milkshake stamp set & dies. Next week's Mid week post features a floating strip technique. I hope you can join me for both of them.
Til next time, take care & keep creating! XXAlison
