Midweek Blog #88 - Card sketch #8

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about.

Today I have a super easy card sketch to share with you plus 2 cards that I made using that design.

Firstly, here are the two creations...

..and here is the sketch I used to create them...

The measurements are:
1st matte (not shown in sketch) - 8.9 x 13.2cm I added this extra matte to give colour to the front & so that I could have a contrast behind the DSP when using Basic White for the 2nd matte.
2nd matte - 8.5 x 12.8cm
DSP - 1: 2.5 x 11.3cm, cut to 2.5 x 2.5cm & 2.5 x8.8cm
2: 4.5 x 11.3cm, cut to 4.5 x 2.5cm & 4.5 x 8.8cm
Basic White scrap suitable for the size of the sentiment & die.

Both cards have a Basic White base & use Delightfully Eclectic DSP which has amazing diversity in the designs & has a whopping 48 double sided sheets!

The first card uses Sweet Citrus stamps & dies, Pretty Peacock cardstock & ink for the sentient with some Old Olive & Pretty Peacock leaves along with Crushed curry fruits. The sentiment was diecut using the All That dies. To finish off the card I coloured some retired Resin Hearts with a Dark Flirty Flamingo blend to match the little coloured hearts in the DSP.

The second card has the DSP swapped & a piece of 1/8" Night of Navy ribbon wrapped around the 1st matte before adhering to the second matte. The sentiment is from He's All That & diecut with the All That dies. The element behind the sentiment is Night of Navy cardstock diecut using another All That die. It was then mounted on the card front. To finish I added some retired 2020-22 In Colour enamel dots.

As I said, super simple but beautiful cards. This sketch is probably one that can be tweaked in so many ways so is a great design to have on hand.

So that's it for this week. I hope you enjoyed this card sketch. If you decide to create using this design I would love to see what you make so please feel free to post a pic on my Facebook page at craftedbyalison.

My next post is on Sunday & features a gorgeous new stamp set & dies from the new catalogue called Carousel Horses. It is adorable! The next mid week blog will feature a design challenge from Tic Tac Toe Challenge which is always fun to create with. I hope you can join me for both of them.

Til next time, take care & keep creating! XX Alison
