Hello & welcome to my blog,
My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about.
Gatefold fun folds are a great way to create a card with a little bit of wow without lots of work involved. This week's cards were created using a funfold as the base idea but instead of both sides of the fold being equal, the two sides are different sizes. Here are the two cards...
I chose to create two different versions, 1 landscape & 1 portrait. Both of them use Delightfully Eclectic DSP as the main component of the card to keep it simple & easy.
For the landscape with daisies I chose Basic Black for the base. I cut a piece 29.7 x 10.5cm & scored scored it at 9.2cm & 24cm. The DSP pieces are 10 x 8.8cm & 10 x 5cm.
For the front of the card I cut a piece of Basic Black measuring 7.5 x 7.5cm. I also punched some daisies using the Medium Daisy punch, layering 2 & coloured the centre with Crushed Curry using a sponge dauber.
The sentiment is from Go To Greetings, embossed with white embossing powder. The daisies are adhered with liquid glue & the panel is then adhered to the card base, only on the left section. A couple of Fine Sparkle adhesive backed gems complete the card front.
As always, I like to decorate the inside of my cards so I blended a little Petal Pink onto the Basic White matte & adhered another daisy over that.
The second card is the portrait design.
I used a piece of Sweet Sorbet measuring 21 x 14.85cm, scoring it at 6.5cm & 17cm. The DSP is cut at 14.35 x 6cm & 14.35 x 3.5cm. The sentiment was stamped in Night of Navy with some flowers coloured directly onto a stamp from Oval Occasions. This was punched with the Double Oval punch along with the scalloped edge matte in Sweet Sorbet.
The inside matte is stamped with the same floral stamp as used on the sentiment but in it's entirety.
Both of the cards also have strips of DSP on the inside panels for a little more pizazz.
Thanks for joining me, I hope you enjoyed these cards & will try this funfold yourself. If you do I would love for you to post a pic on my Facebook page, craftedbyalison.
That's it for this week. My next blog is on Sunday featuring some more creations using the lovely Hello Ladybug stamp set. Next week's mid week blog will feature some blending.
I hope you can join me for both of them. Til next time, take care & keep creating!
XX Alison
