Creating some quilted cards with Crafting With You

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies, embossing folders, projects & sometimes special DSP.

This week I am featuring a new stamp set that has really excited lots of crafty, creative people as it features lots of different types of crafts in the stamp set & also has matching dies! WOWSER.

When I started to gather all of the materials I decided that I would make one feminine & the other masculine. I sorted through scraps Dandy Designs, Oh So Ombre & Let's go fishing to find pieces that could be cut into small squares then chose co-ordinating cardstock which is Night of Navy, Misty Moonlight, Bermuda Bay & Very Vanilla. Unfortunately the colour in the photo above appears more Misty Moonlight for the masculine card but it is in fact Night of Navy.

This pretty card uses 3cm x 3cm pieces of DSP cut in half diagonally then adhered in a pattern onto a piece of 9.5cm x 9.5cm Basics White. This was then run through the embossing machine with the star pattern embossing folder from the Basics 3D embossing folder set. I then attached it to a piece of 10cm x 14.3cm Bermuda Bay cardstock, placing it towards the bottom. The tag was created using the Something Fancy dies & both the sentiment & flowers are stamped in Bermuda Bay. I stamped a couple of extra floral sprays from the Crafting With You stamp set & diecut them using the matching dies. One is adhered directly onto the 'quilt' the other is raised with the tag. I tied a small bow on the tag using some retired Braided Linen thread & finished it all off with some retired Adhesive Backed sequins & gems. I love it!

The masculine card was a little easier to assemble as I didn't have to work out a pattern. I cut Let's Go Fishing DSP strips into 3cm x 3cm pieces then simply layered them onto Misty Moonlight & Very Vanilla cardstock before running them through the embossing machine with the crosshatch design folder from the Basics 3D set. I attached the whole thing to a Night of Navy base (sorry for the washed out colour, the photo was taken at night & didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped). The sentiment is embossed in copper embossing powder directly onto the base. As this is aimed at a masculine audience I only added a couple of Rustic Metallic dots to finish it.
Here are the stamp & die set as a bundle. Don't you just love all of the crafty ideas that have gone into making this?

I hope you've enjoyed this post & it inspires you to create some clean & simple creations using what you have. If you do I would love to see what you create so please feel free to post a pic on my facebook page at craftedbyalison.
