Mid week blog #101 - Global Design Team Colour Challenge, February 2024.

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about.

In this week's blog I have 2 cards that use the Deckled Circles & Deckled Rectangles dies as well as some DSP that I created for Sunday 11th February's Colour Challenge blog.  The colour challenge is the Global Design Team colour challenge for February 2024. The colours they chose are Lemon Lime Twist, Blackberry Bliss, Pumpkin Pie & Crushed Curry. Amazing, rich colours that allow you to create beautiful things. In that blog I shared 3 cards made with DSP. For this blog I also took the opportunity to co-ordinate some of my retired stash into my cards. Here are the remaining 2 cards...

The fronts of the cards use two of the remaining DSP & mattes

The first card is a portrait style & uses some of the Bee Mine DSP, matted on Crushed Curry cardstock & added to a Basic White card. The floral DSP is matted with Blackberry Bliss but before adding it to the card I wrapped some 2022-24 In Colour twine 4 times around & tied a bow with another piece. I embossed the sentiment from Cheerful Daisies in white & added some dimensionals before placing it over the twine. A couple of 2020-22 In Colour enamel dots were the finishing touch.

The second card is a Blackberry Bliss base, scored in half to create an easel fold. I then cut some Snowflake Specialty vellum (retired). The floral design is added to the lower half of the fold. The sentiment is from Cheerful Daisies & stamped in Blackberry Bliss. I fussy cut it then added some Bubble Bath behind it.
The inside stopper for the easel is simply a layer of Bubble Bath the Basic White with some extra stamped flowers from Cheerful Daisies. Dimensionals allow it to sit high enough that the easel is supported when open.

I love the two completely different cards but also love how easy they were to make once I had the stamped DSP.
Well, that's it for tonight's blog. I hope you enjoyed it. My next blog is on Sunday & features a gorgeous DSP pack called Flight & Airy that is available for FREE during Sale-A-Bration. This is only available until the 29th February so if you want some you'd better start shopping!
Next week's mid week blog looks at using scoring as an element to your cards.
Thanks so much for visiting my blog, I hope you've enjoyed it & can come back to see what I have for you on Sunday & next Wednesday.
Til next time, take care & keep creating!
XX Alison
