Mid Week blog #105 - Twisted Easel funfold card

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about.

In previous posts I've mentioned an online stamping retreat that I attended in February. There were some amazing creations included in the retreat and today I am sharing one of them. It's an easel card with a twist! The design was create by the amazing Lisa Curcio from Lisa's Stamp Studio I hope you like it, it's not too difficult but has some WOW about it.

Here's the finished card...

and here are the cutting & scoring instructions starting with a piece of cardstock measuring 28cm x 10.5cm...

To create this unusual design, lightly mark with a grey lead at 1.5cm, 3cm & 15.5cm on the long side. Using these marks as a guide, lightly mark at 5.5cm & 8cm at the 15cm line & at 2cm & 7cm at the 1.5cm line.

The next step is what creates the twisted part of the card.
Carefully make diagonal cuts from the 5.5cm mark at the top to the 2cm mark at the bottom and from the 8cm mark at the top to the 7cm mark at the bottom as shown in the pictures above & below. These marks are marked in blue on the instructions.

All that's left to do now is fold at the score lines as shown in the first picture, the score lines are the dotted red lines, and your card will fold as shown.

Next is cutting the DSP. I chose You're a Peach DSP as the colours go beautifully with the Cajun Craze cardstock used for the base.
Cut a piece of DSP measuring 12cm x 9.4cm.
Mark along the top at 5cm & 7.4cm and along the bottom at 2cm & 6.5cm as shown in the picture below. You will also need a small strip measuring 1cm x 10cm for the bottom step of the card.

Cut diagonally as shown in the next series of pictures.

You will end up with the following strips.

These can now be glued down to the base, all of them will correspond with the base.

To decorate the card I chose to fussy cut peaches & foliage from more of the DSP & arranged them at various heights along the centre panel with glue dots & dimensionals.
The inside is decorated with some stamping from the Sweet as a Peach stamp set. I think the colours are gorgeous together.

So that's it for this cute fun fold. I love the finished project, it's a little different from other fun folds I've tried. I hope you like it too & will give it a try. If you do, I would love you to post a pic on my Facebook page at craftedbyalison.

Well, that's it for tonight's blog. I hope you enjoyed it.
My next blog is on Sunday & features a cheeky new stamp & die bundle from the Jan - Apr '24 mini catalogue called Hooray for surprises.
In next week's mid week blog I will be CASEing a card from one of the Stampin' Up ® catalogues.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog, I hope you've enjoyed it & can come back to see what I have for you on Sunday & next Wednesday.

Til next time, take care & keep creating!
