Hello & welcome to my blog,
My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about.
This week I am sharing a Card Sketch with you. Card sketches are a great way for you to create many different versions of cards using the same sketch. It can be tweaked by changing up the colours, stamp set or DSP. With a change to the orientation of the card or adding the sketch to a fun fold you have even more options available. And all with one sketch. I hope you like what I've created this week.
I chose two of my favourite suites to create these cards - Sweet Citrus & Latte Love. There is a portrait & a landscape design. Both of these cards use the same design below but are very different.
This design has 3 vertical strips & a central circle as the base features.
My first creation uses the Sweet Citrus stamp set, dies & embossing folder. The colours are Granny Apple Green & Parakeet Party. The base has some Granny Apple Green ink blended before the strips, cut from an embossed piece are adhered in a staggered pattern. The 'circle' from the sketch is a grouping of limes instead. For some added embellishments there is a cute Soft Sea Foam bow & some 2022-24 In Colour Pearls. I'm really happy with the vibrancy of this card.
The second card kind of evolved on the go. I embossed some Petal Pink with the Basics 3D embossing folders, added some DSP strips from the A Little Latte pack & added a Crumb Cake circle & some coffee beans & mugs as the central focus. The sentiment is stamped in Early Espresso on Crumb Cake & punched using the retired Darling Label punch. I added a Linen Thread bow & some Adhesive Backed Swirl dots to finish the front.
So that then led to the inside of the card...
Initially I only had a Petal Pink matte with a Basic White matte & DSP strip then decided to add a gift card holder as well. To create this I used some more Petal Pink, cutting it diagonally to allow an easy way to access the gift card. The coffee 'stains' were stamped in Pecan Pie & Early Espresso, both 1st & 2nd generation strength. I love how this turned out.
I had a lot of fun creating these cards. When you have a card sketch it can really kickstart the creative juices, especially if you are in a dry spell. I'd love to see any creations you create with a card sketch, please feel free to pop on over to my facebook page at craftedbyalison & post a pic of your creation.
Well, that's it for another mid week blog. My next blog is on Sunday & I'll be sharing some more creations made with the Share a Milkshake stamps & dies.
Next week's mid week blog will feature a fun fold. I love creating with fun folds, their are just that, fun!
I hope you can join me for both of them. Til next time, take care & keep creating!
XX Alison
