Hello & welcome to my blog,
My name is Alison & I live in beautiful Melbourne, Australia. For those of you who have previously visited my blog & are now returning, thank you. For those of you who are here for the first time, welcome!
Here's a little bit about me. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies, embossing folders, projects & sometimes special DSP and Wednesday evenings when I highlight a technique, fun folds or tools & tips. I would love to hear from you if you have any questions or suggestions & my email address for that is craftedbyalison@gmail.com.
Stampin' Up® have just launched their new Annual Catalogue & it's a beauty! It's set out quite differently to previous catalogues but there are benefits to that. They now have sectioned it to have beginners, which is a step by step collection of materials in kits, then there is quick & easy where you select base materials & packs of pre-printed or diecut materials plus some stamp sets then there is create your way where you choose all the materials, stamps etc yourself & create your way! In the quick & easy section Stampin' Up® have also provided some inspiration with a colour wheel & information of various ways to use colour combinations. There is a section explaining 4 different ways to vary your colours - Monochromatic, Complementary, Analogous & Triadic. It's a wonderful tool to help with creativity & I shared my first post using it in my midweek blog of 29/5/24 but it's not what this week's post is about, that is something I will explore more in future blogs.
This week I have a lovely stamp & die set that compliments the stamps & dies featured in last week's Sunday blog. The Lovely & Sweet stamp set with matching dies is just that, Lovely and Sweet! It is a very pretty set & is very easy to work with. I chose to use heat embossing for the basis of my creations this week & created 2 cards that are the same/same but different! 😁 I hope you like them.
As you can see, they are both very similar but with different colours, embossing folder vs DSP, dimensionals vs created dimension the two are different. They both feature a matte cut with the Perennial Postage dies & heat embossing of the image, one in silver, one in gold & both have been coloured. Here are more details of the cards individually.

My first card is a Basic White base with a layer of DSP from the Nature's Sweetness pack. I then added a layer of Petal Pink Glimmer Paper which looks peachy rather than pink and meant that it picked up the warmer tones of the nuts in my image. I adhered this with liquid glue for a strong grip but left the corners loose so they could be teased up for depth. The image was watercoloured with Garden Green, Pecan Pie & Mango Melody, giving a soft finish to the image. The edges of the leaves were then gently curled up with a bone folder for a little bit of 3D dimension. The finishing touch was a sentiment stamped in Pecan Pie & raised on dimensionals plus a few Adhesive Backed Cork Rounds.

The second card is the same layout & is also heat embossed but tweaked. The base is Soft Sea Foam & has a layer of the same, embossed with the Twisted Rope embossing folder. The DSP is also Nature's Sweetness. This time I used silver for the heat embossing & coloured the image in with a variety of Stampin' Blend© markers - Light Flirty Flamingo, Light Pretty in Pink & and old colour - Light Pineapple Punch for the blooms, Light & Dark Soft Sea Foam for the leaves & SU500 & SU800 skin tone blenders for the nuts. This time the image is raised on dimensionals with the sentiment which is heat embossed in white on Pebbled Path. The finishing touches for this card are some 2023-25 In Colour dots & a triple Baker's Twine bow in Flirty Flamingo.
Both of these cards were quick & easy to make but I think they both have some elegance to them. I also found that the colouring of the images was quite soothing & mindful, something that can also be done while watching TV or during some quiet time. I love how they turned out.
That's all I have for you this week. I hope you enjoyed these creations as much as I enjoyed playing around with this bundle.
