Midweek blog #126 - Fun fold Concertina card with DSP
Hello & welcome to my blog,
My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about.
Today I have a different way of using DSP that creates a funfold. Check it out...
I created 2 different versions of the fun fold, one more masculine & one more feminine. When folded they are the same size as a regular card but when you open them up...
So I'll start with the masculine card first.
There is a single sheet of Basic Beige cardstock as the 'base', then a matte of Pebbled Path. Next is a 14.85cm x 30.5cm piece of Country Woods DSP, scored at 9.7cm, 17.3cm & 24.9cm. This gives a tiered effect to the concertina fold. I burnished all of the folds well & glued down the final fold, giving the card a contrast pattern for the first layer. To this layer I added a Pebbled Path matte measuring 11cm x 7.5cm. The next step was to create a Basic White which I added some fussy cut tools from the February Sale-A-Bration Trusty Tools DSP. The sentiment & nails are from the Vintage Tools stamp set. There's also a grey lead pencil added to the bottom of the Pebbled Path matte plus some Cork Rounds to finish the front.
To complete the inside, I attached 2 pieces of Basic White measuring 7.1cm x 10.6cm which had more fussy cut tools & some stamping. Nearly all of the tool pieces are edge pieces from the DSP to show you that you don't have to waste much.
That's it for this card technique. I hope you enjoyed learning a simple way to add a little WOW to a card. If you decide to try this technique I would love to see what you make so please feel free to pop over to my Facebook page at craftedbyalison & post a pic.
