Midweek Blog #134 - Creating with Enamel Effects pt 1

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about.

Today I am sharing a technique using enamel paints called Enamel Effects. There are two three packs of enamel paint - one in basic Red, Black & White & the other in metallics. This week I have used them to create backgrounds for cards & next week I will share two cards with accented images. It was fun playing around with the different colours & creating some unique backgrounds. I hope you enjoy what I have created for you.

When I started playing around with the Enamel Effects I simply grabbed some cardstock & the paints & experimented. Here are a few shots of the process...

\

For the first sample I drew lines straight across the Garden Green cardstock with Silver. I also tried out a checked pattern which is in a picture below.

The next two were more silver stripes on Basic Black but this time diagonal plus some red dots on Basic White. Here are the 4 finished pieces of cardstock.

I really liked the look of the dots & diagonal stripes so decided to create with those two patterns to achieve the card in the first picture.
I trimmed down the dots & stripes to fit a regular sized card front then diecut a Real Red circle with the Deckled Circles dies. This was adhered using Glue Dots so that there were no spaces or lumps.

To create the focus image I stamped a milk pail & a bouquet of flowers from Country Flowers then coloured them in using Smoky Slate, Bubble Bath & SU1000 blends for the pail & Sweet Sorbet, Real Red, Cherry Cobbler, Granny Apple Green & Lemon Lime Twist blends for the bouquet. After diecutting them both out I added some Granny Apple Green sprigs behind the bouquet made with the retired Forever Flourishing dies.
The silver heat embossed sentiment is from Fancy Phrases (also retired). The Real Red banner that it is on was a scrap I found that was left over from another card. The curvy shape was made with the Curvy dies & I really liked the quirky shape.
The last step was to add a tiny bow made with some white twine. Quite a simple card & great for some mindfulness colouring.
I love how this card turned out. The black, red & white really pops! Here is a closeup of the spots & stripes...

So that's it for the first part of creating with Enamel Effects, I hope you enjoyed it. Next week's mid week blog will show you how to add Enamel Effects to images to create a special finish.

My next blog is on Sunday & I will be CASEing the catalogue to show you some beautiful cards made with the Thoughtful Journey Suite. It's a beautiful suite with dainty images, beautiful DSP & some specialty DSP as well.
Next week's midweek blog looks at using Enamel Effects on your creations.
I hope you can join me for both of them.

Til next time, take care & keep creating. XX Alison
