Midweek blog#169 - Meet the new In Colours!
Hello & welcome to my blog,
My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about.
This week I am sharing the new In Colours from the 2025-26 Stampin' Up® catalogue.
Stampin' Up® bring out 5 new colours every year in their catalogue that last for 2 years. This means that every year they also retire the In Colours from 2 years prior to make way for the new ones.
This year's new colours are:
Strawberry Slush - a rich berry pink.
Timid Tiger - a lovely mid range orange.
Darling Ducking - a strong, almost mustard yellow.
Cloud Cover - a soft blue that is similar to a cloudy day in Melbourne & looks a little grey in the photos.
and Secret Sea - a very deep blue, lighter than Night of Navy but much darker than Misty Moonlight.
As I was making 5 cards this week I wanted a simple design so chose the Pretty Florals stamp set for the main section on the front of the card.
I changed each card slightly with some having blended ink & others stamping under the flowers but each of them has white ribbon coloured with the Stampin' Write© markers. Here are the coloured ribbons...
The stamp set has 2 different floral images which are used in all of the cards in various combinations. As each image is a two step process I used the one colour on each card but stamped off for the first of the images & used full strength for the second image.
This next shot shows the 5 finished cards complete with some 2025-27 In Colour Flat Pearls.
Now here are each of the cards individually...
Strawberry Slush has Granny Apple Green 'grass' & stems & the sentiment is from Cake Celebrations & Cake Fancy...
Timid Tiger has blending with Garden Green stems & a sentiment from Cake Fancy...
Darling Duckling has Granny Apple Green & 'grass' with a sentiment from Cake Celebrations...
Cloud Cover has Granny Apple Green stems & blending with the sentiment from Sweet Blooms. I found that when stamping off for the first stamp that the colour was very light so I added a second stamped off image to add a little more depth of colour. And for the final card...
Secret Sea has Lemon Lime Twist with 'grass' & the same Sweet Blooms sentiment.
Disclaimer: One point to note though is that there was a problem found with the Cloud Cover ink pads when applying some of them to cardstock. Apparently a rare chemical reaction occurs on occasions which affects the colour when stamped. Due to Stampin' Up® not being able to guarantee the effectiveness of the inkpads they have decided to pull them from the market. You can still purchase all of the other supplies but the inkpads are not available. The ink pad refills are available if you wanted to try using it on an uninked pad but this is not guaranteed by SU to match the other products like the other colours do. They had the original run of inkpads available for demonstrators to purchase with the understanding that there was no guarantee of whether your pad would have a good or negative outcome. I was lucky that I received a good pad but I also purchased the re-inker & blank pad just in case.
That's all I have for you for this post. I hope you've enjoyed seeing the new In Colours. They are lovely colours & a joy to work with.
My next blog is on Sunday where I play around with a stunning new Suite called Cheers & Sips. It has a colourful collection of Designer papers with cocktails & mixed drinks.
Next week's mid week blog will have a new funfold for you.
I hope you can join me for both of them.
Til next time, take care & keep creating! XX Alison
