Midweek blog#183 - How to create your own gift tags with heat embossed Designer Series Paper

Hello & welcome to my blog.

My name is Alison & I live in beautiful Melbourne, Australia.

For those of you who have previously visited my blog & are now returning, thank you. For those of you who are here for the first time, welcome!

Here's a little bit about me. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies, embossing folders, projects & sometimes special DSP and Wednesday evenings when I highlight a technique, fun folds or tools & tips. I would love to hear from you if you have any questions or suggestions & my email address for that is craftedbyalison@gmail.com.

In my 21/9/25 post I shared how to use heat embossing on Designer Series Paper. Today's project continues on from that post by creating gift tags to go with those cards. The design is based on the sketches found in Stampin' Up®s Jan - Apr '25 & Sept - Dec '24 mini catalogues. The tag & card sketches featured in the catalogues are a great free tool to help you create.

This was a quick & easy project but a nice way to compliment the cards when giving a gift as well.

Here are the completed tags...

To create the tags I went back to my retired stash & chose the Greetings of the Season dies from last Christmas as I really liked the shape. I cut 2 pieces in Basic White & 2 pieces of Beautiful Bokeh DSP to match the cards from my previous post.

I repeated the process used on the cards - heat embossing the images & water painting the butterflies & then created sentiments on label die cut strips.

On the first tag I used the Simply Said sentiments & Gorgeous Grape cardstock as well as the Textured Notes dies. The tie is made with white twine & Fresh Freesia Faux Velvet Ribbon & I added a few Iridescent Faceted gems for sparkle.

The second tag has a Basic Black tag with a sentiment from Mixed Labels & is diecut with the Stylish Shapes dies. The tie is White 1/4" ribbon & I added some Itty Bitty Bokeh mix for a little bling.

Here are the cards with the tags.

As you can see, the tags compliment the cards perfectly & could be used with the cards if giving a gift or used separately.

That's all I have for your this week. I hope you enjoyed learning how to make simple tags with heat embossing.

My next post will be on Sunday when I will be sharing some scrapbooking pages made with Stampin' Up®s Memories In Bloom scrapbooking workshop kit.

In my next mid week blog I play around with different colour combinations.

I hope you can join me for both of them.

Til next time, take care & keep creating! XX Alison
