Hello & welcome to my blog.
My name is Alison & I live in beautiful Melbourne, Australia.
For those of you who have previously visited my blog & are now returning, thank you. For those of you who are here for the first time, welcome!
Here's a little bit about me. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies, embossing folders, projects & sometimes special DSP and Wednesday evenings when I highlight a technique, fun folds or tools & tips. I would love to hear from you if you have any questions or suggestions & my email address for that is craftedbyalison@gmail.com.
For those of you who are regular readers of my posts you will know that I really enjoy having a play around with funfolds. Creating a card with a unique twist, fold or flap can change a lovely card into something that makes the recipient let out an ooh or wow. Today's card can do just that. I created a pop up pillar funfold that is slightly different to another pop up pillar card I created on 23/5/23. I hope you like it.
This pretty floral card is created with Crumb Cake & Very Vanilla cardstock with Brushed with Beauty DSP & stamping using the Petals of Beauty stamps & dies.
I started with a base of Crumb Cake measuring 14.85cm x 29.7cm. I scored it at 10.5cm, 15.3cm, 20.1cm & 24.9cm. I know the measurements are a little exact but I came to those measurements by cutting a regular A4 piece to the height of a regular card, score it to the regular width of a card then divided the rest of the 29.7cm side evenly (4.8cms for each panel) so that it could be folded into a box or pillar.
I then cut 3 pieces of DSP measuring 4.5cm x 14.55cm, giving a 3cm difference for a small border & adhered to the first 3 panels of the card front.
Next, I stamped a sentiment from Notes & Totes in Mossy Meadow on some Very Vanilla & diecut it with one of the label dies from Traditional Labels.
I stamped one flower from Petals of Beauty in Calypso Coral, stamping off so that I had 1 shade for the base & a darker shade for the 2nd layer of the two step stamp & used Cajun Craze for the centre stamens.
I then stamped another flower with 2nd generation Basic Beige & Lemon Lolly so that it complemented the flowers in the DSP as well as leaves in two different shades using Mossy Meadow & Old Olive.
Next I stamped the tiny blossoms in two shades of Calypso Coral & added some greenery with Old Olive.
To create the pillar shape of the card I applied liquid glue to the final panel (without the DSP) & folded the panels to create the box shape, pressing it closed onto the inside of the card.
A piece of Very Vanilla measuring 5.2cm x 14.55cm was added to the last space of the card for writing a message.
I layered the flowers to the sentiment label with mini glue dots & liquid glue then
added it to the centre panel with dimensionals. This allowed the card to close without the panel sticking over the edge of the card.
The final touch was adding some Pearls of Beauty for a little bling.
Here is an aerial view of the finished card...
When folded flat it will fit inside a regular envelope.
So that's how easy it was to create this pretty floral funfold. I hope you enjoyed learning how it came to be. Perhaps you'll try to create one of your own?
That's all I have for you for this post. My next post will be on Sunday when I share a scrapbook page that I created from the Stampin' Up® Craftalong that I attended recently using the same DSP as today.
Next week's mid week post will be my final post for this year as I will be spending some time with my family over Christmas.
Thank you for visiting my blog. I hope you've enjoyed it & return for more next week.
Till next time, take care & keep creating. XX Alison
