Mid Week blog #89 - Tic Tac Toe challenge

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies & sometimes special DSP. My second blog is mid week on a Wednesday where I look at techniques, colour challenges, card sketches, fun folds, tools & equipment & ways to make or improve your projects. That's what this blog is about.

I used a Tic Tac Toe challenge board to create today's card. How the challenge works is that you choose a line in any direction, horizontal, vertical or diagonal, & use those 3 elements to create with.

Here's my card first...

And now here's the Tic Tac Toe board...

I had been asked by a friend to make a 40th birthday card for her Sister in Law & decided that this TTTC idea would kill two birds with one stone! I chose a diagonal line from top right to bottom left - flowers, any sentiment & foliage. As the card is for a special occasion I decided on a triple fold with a belly band.

Using Basic Black for the base I cut strips of DSP from Splendid Day & diecut as well as fussy cut some flowers & foilage from Hues of Happiness DSP.  These were place down on the front flap & arranged until I was happy with the result. I then used some GLAD Press & Seal, pressed down over the bouquet to catch them all & keep them in place. Carefully turning this over, I then applied small dots of glue to areas of the flowers & foliage so that all of the pieces were attached to another piece. Once this was done I applied some glue to a strip of Basic Black that was smaller enough to hide behind the bouquet & not overhang the panel.
The Basic Black belly band is wrapped around the card with the fold hidden behind the sentiment. I stamped it using Charming Sentiments, Special Moments & Family Party stamps & added a flower & some leaves. The inside sentiment is from Happiness Abounds.

I love how it turned out & my friend was very happy with it too!

That's it for this week. My next blog is on Sunday featuring the cute Little Monkey stamp set with a matching punch. Next week's mid week blog looks at using scraps to create Starburst design cards.

I hope you can join me for both of them. Til next time, take care & keep creating!
