Creating with the Colour Coach cards

Hello & welcome to my blog.

My name is Alison & I live in beautiful Melbourne, Australia.

For those of you who have previously visited my blog & are now returning, thank you. For those of you who are here for the first time, welcome!

Here's a little bit about me. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies, embossing folders, projects & sometimes special DSP and Wednesday evenings when I highlight a technique, fun folds or tools & tips. I would love to hear from you if you have any questions or suggestions & my email address for that is craftedbyalison@gmail.com.

This week my focus is how to use combinations of colours to create beautiful cards. In my 1/10/25 blog I shared how to create swatches with different combinations for all of the current Stampin' Up® colours to have on hand to help with creativity & inspiration.

Today's card was created using one of those Colour Coach cards - specifically the Mossy Meadow combinations. Now, Mossy Meadow is a strong, bold colour & I don't use it a lot so that was one of the main reasons I chose it. One of the combinations on the card is Mossy Meadow, Cajun Craze & Petal Pink. Fun!! This combination just happens to be some of the colours used in the Painterly Pears DSP so I pulled it our & started fussy playing around. I hope you like my creation.

I started with a Cajun Craze base then added a matte of the same colour that had a section on the right embossed with the Glass & Gardens embossing folder and a strip of DSP on the left.
I fussy cut some pears, flowers & foliage from the DSP (I don't have the dies yet!) then attached some to a Mossy Meadow tag made with the Traditional Labels dies & kept some small ones to scatter on the sentiment & card front.
The sentiment is stamped in Cajun Craze & comes from the Simply Said stamp set. The sentiment is actually one long strip but I wanted a smaller tag so I inked up one word at a time & positioned them where I wanted & then die cut them with a smaller tag from the Traditional Labels dies.
Before attaching it to the larger tag I adhered some Black & Gold twine behind it.
This whole piece was then attached to the card front with dimensionals & the remaining small flowers were scattered around.
Here is a closeup & side view of the decorated inside of the card.

The final step was to use a scrap to adhere to an envelope for a completely co-ordinated project!

I'm so pleased with how easy it was to put this all together. As I mentioned earlier, Mossy Meadow & Petal Pink were included in the DSP & Cajun Craze was the base & ink so pulling this project together was quick & easy. The Black & Gold twine makes a nice contrast finish.

That's all I have for you this time. I hope you've enjoyed it.

My next post will be on Sunday when I will be sharing some different ways to use the Party Banners (they're not just for banners you know!) then in my next mid week blog I will create again using a card sketch.

I hope you can join me for both of them.

Til next time, take care & keep creating! XX Alison
