A special creation for a lover of fishing.

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I live in beautiful Melbourne, Australia. For those of you who have previously visited my blog & are now returning, thank you. For those of you who are here for the first time, welcome!

Here's a little bit about me. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies, embossing folders, projects & sometimes special DSP and Wednesday evenings when I highlight a technique, fun folds or tools & tips. I would love to hear from you if you have any questions or suggestions & my email address for that is craftedbyalison@gmail.com.

This week's blog is a special creation that I made for a friend for her father-in-law's 80th birthday. The brief was to create a card that the whole extended family could sign. That gave me the idea of creating a fishing tackle box with multiple layers. I used the Let's Go Fishing suite which includes the Gone Fishing stamp set & dies plus the stunning Let's Go Fishing DSP. There's also a Twisted Rope embossing folder but I didn't use it in this weeks project. Here's my creation...

I used Pacific Point as the covers of the card & Very Vanilla for the internal pages. It's such a pity that Pacific Point is retired, it's one of my favourite colours. I diecut the top layer of the tackle box in the same colour then carefully applied dots of glue to adhere it to the cover. There's also a layer inside in Very Vanilla. The really fun part was stamping & diecuting all of the tackle - hooks, sinkers, floats & flies then glueing them together to add to each of the spaces. There's even some frayed trim for the fishing line. I then stamped some images on each of the pages as shown in the following pictures.

To keep all of the pages layered on top of each other I added some hinges between the layers, matching the hinges with either the Very Vanilla or Pacific Point pages. I didn't add any sentiments apart from the 80 on the front of the box to ensure that there was plenty of room on each page for all of the family to write a personal message to the recipient.

This card did take some extra time as I wanted it to be special, after all an 80th is a special celebration! I  did enjoy the process though & working out how to make the hinges, how many pages etc. was a great way to keep those grey cells ticking over. There was also a bonus as I now have lots of diecut pieces from the tray diecut that can be used for sentiments on other cards. I've popped links to all of the current products used below if you would like to purchase any of them.

So that's it for this card. Now I'd like to share a little bit of information about how to purchase any of Stampin' Up®s beautiful products.

Stampin' Up® has a number of ways to purchase their lovely products. You can look through their physical catalogue or browse through the Annual catalogue online  but there are also some products that are only available exclusively online that don't appear in any catalogues. This week's feature kit is the a home decor kit called Happy Houseplants & has all the materials needed to make 4 gorgeous 3D plant picture frames.

Isn't it gorgeous? I have to confess that when I saw it I did pop one straight into my shopping trolley. I will use it as a gift for a friend's birthday later this year. If you love it too then here is a link to my shop.

This one is a little different as it's not cards but gifts or home decor that you can make.
It's also a great gift for anyone who likes to create but isn't confident or doesn't have a lot of supplies. These are available in my online store or there's a link below if you feel you 'need' this one. 😁

A lot of demonstrators use the special Host Code for their customers but I'm trying it this year as a new idea to see if this is what you, my customers would like to use. If you shop with me then don't forget to use this month's host code FPEXGVDF. This will allow me to pass on any hostess benefits to customers when the sales reach the required qualifying amount.

Lastly, there have been lots of new items added to the clearance rack so make sure you check them out using the link above to my online store.

If you would like to purchase any of my creations that I feature in my blogs they can be found in my FaceBook shop at craftedbyalison or you can order something unique.

If you would like me to send you a copy of the new Annual catalogue then please message me via my FaceBook page, Crafted by Alison or send me an email at craftedbyalison@gmail.com.
