Hello & welcome.
My name is Alison & I live in beautiful Melbourne, Australia.
For those of you who have previously visited my blog & are now returning, thank you. For those of you who are here for the first time, welcome!
Here's a little bit about me. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies, embossing folders, projects & sometimes special DSP and Wednesday evenings when I highlight a technique, fun folds or tools & tips. I would love to hear from you if you have any questions or suggestions & my email address for that is craftedbyalison@gmail.com.
This week I have created a background for my card using a punch & DSP. A simple way to create that allows you so many different outcomes. You can use cardstock, DSP or scraps of both. There can be monochromatic, rainbow or patterns. You can add 3D elements or have a plain 2D effect. The choice is yours, dependant on your supplies & mood. I chose the Heartfelt Hexagon punch as I love the shape of it. Here are the two cards that I created this week...
My cards could be classified as masculine & feminine but could be for any purpose.
My first card would be perfect for a male though as the colours are earthy & feature many different wood style patterns.
I started with a Basic Beige base & added an Early Espresso matte. The DSP is from Country Woods & I've added some Early Espresso & Pecan Pie cardstock for some contrast to the patterns. I punched a variety of different patterns & colours out & also punched one shape from a matte of Basic Beige. This was then marked on the Early Espresso matte & a sentiment was heat embossed in Copper so that it peaks through from below. The hexagons were positioned on the Basic Beige matte until I was happy with their placement before adhering with liquid glue. A number of them overlapped the edge of the cardstock & were trimmed with some of them being used to fill in gaps. This matte was then adhered to the Early Espresso matte over the top of the sentiment. A second sentiment was tucked in just at the bottom of the card, directly onto the Pecan Pie cardstock.
To decorate I diecut some small keys with the Tags To Go dies, using some more of the trimmed hexagon pieces, raising some on dimensionals. The final touch were some retired Pecan Pie & Clear Ribboned dots.
I love it.
My second card has a little more sparkle to it as I used the gorgeous Kinstugi Inspirations DSP as my mai focus.
I started with a Basic White base, adding a Night of Navy matte with a strip of Kinstugi DSP. I punched some complementary papers & adhered them directly to the base.
The sentiment from Mixed Labels I stamped on Basic Beige in Night of Navy & raised on dimensionals. I have a stash of vases & bowls diecut from the DSP so I simply chose a vase in a colour & design that I liked and added a bowl I had made & that was left over from a previous project, raising the vase on dimensionals also. The final touch was the addition of some gold Flower Acents.
I love how these two cards turned out. They didn't take very long either. I put them together at my monthly get together with some crafty card making friends from prepped materials.
Well, that's if for my creations. I hope you enjoyed seeing how easy it is to create using punches.

It’s perfect for group crafting or a cozy solo session with your favorite show—and you’ll have a one-of-a-kind piece you made yourself!

If you

In the past we were able to create a host code & group together individual orders & pass on the 'hostess' benefits to customers with qualifying orders. This has now been replaced with a 'Rewards' program that gives
all customers who place an order with a
qualifying amount a credit of 10% of their order to use on future orders. This will be displayed during the checkout process or your order. Stampin' Up® feel that this is a fairer way of rewarding all customers.
