Mid Week blog #51 Using a Pinwheel design on cards

Image
Hello & welcome to my blog, My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. Today's blog is all about using a pinwheel design as a feature of a card. I hope you like what I've made! First up is a traditional pinwheel design created with 4 DSP prints. To create the blades of the pinwheel I used a square die from the Stitched Shapes dies & diecut 4 pieces of DSP then cut them in half diagonally. In order to have the pieces stay in place while I assembled the pinwheel I used a large glue dot which the tip of each triangle was adhered to. I angled each triangle 45degrees, 2 triangles making a square each time as I went around. Once the pinwheel was complete I added some mini glue dots to the tips of the wheel then some liquid glue & adhered it to the matte which was run through the Climb

Today's blog is all about creating nature themed cards using the Ocean Front stamp set. I hope you like what I've made!  This blog was prepared a few days in advance as when this is published I will be busily crafting away at an online event called Online Stamping Retreat (Autumn version). I'm very excited about this retreat as I attended the Spring version earlier this year that Lisa Curcio & Kylie Bertucci co-hosted along with Gina Hawley & Bruno Bertucci. It was loads of fun and this one is sure to be as well. I will post some pics in future blogs of what we made. So excited!!! Now back to this week's post, all cards this week are simple cards, suitable for either gender and show a variety of lands

Mid Week Blog #50 - Card Sketch #6

Hello & welcome to my Mid Week blog, I am an independant Stampin' Up® demonstrator with a passion for creating. I have a regular weekly blog on a Sunday that explores different stamp sets, die sets or products sold by Stampin' Up® and my Mid Week blog explores tips, techniques, card sketches, colour challenges & lots of other ideas to help you make the most of your crafting time. There are ideas for 'just starting out' crafters, 'in-betweeners' and more avid crafters.    The focus this week is on creating using a card sketch. Card sketches can be really useful if you have hit a dip in the mojo road or if you just want to try something new or different. Here are two cards I made this week using a simple card sketch. It's the same design but the orientation of them is different. One card is landscape & the other is portrait Here's the sketch I started with. The landscape design was created using Boughs of Holly DSP with Real Red, Shaded Spruce

I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. Today's blog is all about using the Biggest Wish stamp set as the background feature of a card. I hope you like what I've made! Both cards this week are simple cards, suitable for either gender & surprisingly I didn't add any bling to either card! 😲🤯 Here's the first card.... Friendship is really important to me so I do tend to create Hello or friendship cards whenever I can. For this card I used some of my favourite colours, Blues, with yellow & tan to compliment. The card base is Misty Moonlight & the sentiment matte is Night of Navy. I used some of the free Rings of Love DSP that was available during the July to August Sale-a-bration & chose complimentary colours from that pack. I chose t

There are ideas for 'just starting out' crafters, 'in-betweeners' and more avid crafters.    This week is part of a series that looks at using dies slightly differently. I will show you how to make partial diecut cards. It's really quite easy & allows you to change the look of your cards & get more out of your dies. I used a new stamp & die bundle - Sweet Candy Canes - from the July - December Mini catalogue as the die has diagonal lines that can be used to show DSP peeking through underneath.  First I'll show you a pic of the finished card then I'll wal

Hello & welcome to my blog, My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. Today's blog is all about making slimline cards. I've created these cards using basic products that most people will have but I also used the Stampin' Up® Slim Sayings stamp set & Slimline dies which were available during the January - June '22 Mini catalogue. I hope you like what I've made! To get the right size for the card I used the dimensions of a DL envelope - 22 x 11cm, then cut down .5cm on two sides to allow a little wiggle room. I started playing around with colours & DSP & decided that blues & greens were the nicest combination. This is the first card I made. I used Basic White as the base, measuring 21.5 x 21cm & scored the 21cm side at 10.5cm. The first matte is Mint Mac

My Mum has been taken back to hospital & I've been spending a lot of time visiting her & liaising with family & the doctors. Fingers crossed she is now on the mend & things can go back to 'normal'.  This week I have a fun fold for you that's easy to make but looks amazing! I saw this fold on Pinterest, posted by Vickie Lou designs & knew that it was going to be a winner. I just love the bri
