Sweet Citrus alternative creation

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I am an independent Stampin' Up® demonstrator in Melbourne, Australia. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies, embossing folders, projects & sometimes special DSP.

This week I am featuring a stamp set that has been featured here before but I've used it in a different way. the stamp set is Sweet Citrus but this time instead of using it to create citrusy delights I created a cocktail themed card.
When I was creating for my previous blog where I made a cigar box and co-ordinating card I noticed that one of the stamps reminded me of a coconut half. This immediately had my mind thinking of Pina Coladas! So I put that idea away for the future & now it's time to share what my idea ended up becoming. I hope you love it.

So the coconut half is actually the rind for one of the citrus fruit stamps in the set. I stamped it in Soft Suede on Very Vanilla cardstock, added some Versamark & white embossing powder, heat embossed it then diecut it. The pineapple is from an old Sale-a-bration stamp set called Island Vibes & was also stamped in Soft Suede plus Garden Green on Crushed Curry but was fussy cut.

For the base of the card I used Lemon Lolly & after scoring it in half I added a second score line 1.5cm in to create a book fold for a little change to my usual bases. I ran some Soft Sea Foam binding ribbon around it before gluing it closed at the book fold.
I next added a piece of Beautiful & Bright DSP measuring 12.85cm x 10cm plus a piece of Pecan Pie Glorious Gingham DSP measuring 9.5cm x 5cm. Next, I added the pineapple & coconut to the Pecan Pie DSP with liquid glue & glue dots for a little dimension.
The sentiment is stamped in Soft Suede also, diecut using the Messages dies then mounted with dimensionals.
The cocktail was stamped in Memento Black ink & Lemon Lolly. The glass has a little Seaside Spray blends & the Lime wedge & umbrella were coloured with Granny Apple Green, Parakeet Party & Lemon Lime Twist markers.
A piece of Lemon Lolly was diecut using All That dies for the matte behind the cocktail & was sponged using a sponge dauber & Soft Suede ink.
All that was left to do was add the cocktail to the matte & adhere both to the card front & the card was finished. Quite a quick & easy card to create using lots of different mix & match sets.
Here's a close up of the front.

I loved creating something a little different with this stamp set & was very happy that I could use so many different stamps, dies & colours together. It means that the investment into the stamps & dies was worth it.

I hope you've enjoyed this post & it inspires you to grab some of your older supplies & creating something different. If you do I would love to see what you create so please feel free to post a pic on my facebook page at craftedbyalison.
