Four corner stamping - creating 5 card fronts from one piece of cardstock, ink & stamps
Hello & welcome to my blog,
My name is Alison & I live in beautiful Melbourne, Australia. For those of you who have previously visited my blog & are now returning, thank you. For those of you who are here for the first time, welcome!
Here's a little bit about me. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies, embossing folders, projects & sometimes special DSP and Wednesday evenings when I highlight a technique, fun folds or tools & tips. I would love to hear from you if you have any questions or suggestions & my email address for that is craftedbyalison@gmail.com.
Stampin' Up® launched their new Annual Catalogue in May & it's a beauty! It's set out quite differently to previous catalogues but there are benefits to that. They now have sectioned it to have beginners, which is a step by step collection of materials in kits, then there is quick & easy where you select base materials & packs of pre-printed or diecut materials plus some stamp sets then there is create your way where you choose all the materials, stamps etc yourself & create your way! In the quick & easy section Stampin' Up® have also provided some inspiration with a colour wheel & information of various ways to use colour combinations. There is a section explaining 4 different ways to vary your colours - Monochromatic, Complementary, Analogous & Triadic. It's a wonderful tool to help with creativity & I shared my first post using it in my midweek blog of 29/5/24 & also in my midweek blog of 24/7/24 but it's not what this week's post is about, that is something I will explore more in future blogs.
This week I created 4 cards using one piece of cardstock, ink & stamps. This is a very useful technique that allows you to save time by making multiple card fronts from just one sheet of stamped cardstock. It's also a lot of fun! I hope you enjoy this technique.
I was able to create 5 cards with the DSP that I created. Here they are
I chose bright, cheerful colours as it's nearly summer here in Australia. I love the vivid colours together and the daisies from the Cheerful Daisies stamp set are just perfect for this project.
To start this project I first gathered my supplies - stamps, inks, paper. I then got busy with stamping using the masking technique to mask off some of the flowers.
I started with the largest daisy & stamped it in Peach Pie & Pumpkin Pie, leaving gaps so that I could add other flowers around them.
This is where the masking technique comes in. If you have not done masking before, it's a great way to get depth to your finished images as the subsequent images appear to be behind the main focus. This is achieved by stamping an image onto post-it notes or masking paper then fussy cutting around it. This is then kept in the stamp case for many future uses. It is placed over the image so that when you stamp subsequent images they don't overlap on the main image.
I used a lot of different colours in this creation! I wanted lots of bright colours to really pop.
I used Blueberry Bushel & Azure Afternoon (retired), Melon Mambo & Pretty in Pink, Pumpkin Pie & Peach Pie for the flowers, Mango Melody & Daffodil Delight for the centres & Granny Apple Green & Lemon Lime Twist for the foliage which comes from Cheerful Daisies & Country Bouquet stamp sets.
After I had finished stamping all of the blooms & greenery I then got to work cutting it into pieces for cards.
So, from the one sheet of cardstock I now had enough pieces to create at least 5 cards. I could have continued to cut pieces to create more or used some of the strips individually, but this time I was happy with creating 5 cards.
The next step was to add some mattes & bases. I co-ordinated the colours of the inks with the mattes & bases but some were also added to Basic White bases.
Then onto the final touches, sentiments & embellishments.
