Mystery Stamping for a mystery project (or three)
Hello & welcome.
My name is Alison & I live in beautiful Melbourne, Australia.
For those of you who have previously visited my blog & are now returning, thank you. For those of you who are here for the first time, welcome!
Here's a little bit about me. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies, embossing folders, projects & sometimes special DSP and Wednesday evenings when I highlight a technique, fun folds or tools & tips. I would love to hear from you if you have any questions or suggestions & my email address for that is craftedbyalison@gmail.com.
Today I am sharing a Mystery Stamping card. Mystery stamping is when you are given a list of supplies needed for the project then there are simple steps given, one by one, to help you create. It's a fun way of creating that has a little bit of mystery & surprise. Most mystery stampings are done online or by recorded video but as I don't do videos at the moment mine are done via steps in a blog post. I have posted before, on 19/2/25 and on 25/5/25 & it's a fun way to create. I hope you enjoy the process of creating this way.
I will share my finished card at the end of all of the steps but here's the supply list to get you started.
Materials:
This card will be portrait so choose your DSP accordingly.
Card base - Basic White 21cm x 14.85cm scored at 10.5cm
Matte in same colour as base - 10cm x 14.35cm
Basic White scraps for stamping
Co - ordinating cardstock for sentiment matte (optional)
DSP - 14.35cm x 6.5cm
- 14.35cm x 4cm &
- 10cm x 3cm
Inks, stamps & dies
Co-ordinating embellishments to match the base & DSP
Instructions & step by step pictures:
Step 1: Cut a 3.5cm strip from the right side of the card front. Trim to 11.5cm then score at 10.5cm.
Step 2: Add liquid glue to the small scored section of the 3.5cm strip & adhere to the inside of the card base. This can be positioned at any point on the base - centred, upper or lower section.
You can also adhere to the back of the inside matte as I have done in the following picture.
Step 3: Apply liquid glue to the 14.35cm x 4cm DSP & adhere to the matte.
I chose a different pattern from the Wildflower Birthday DSP for this step.
Step 4: Adhere the matte over the flap to the inside of the card ensuring that the flap is open when you adhere the matte. If you have added the flap to the matte, adhere the matte to the inside of the card at this step.
Step 5: Apply liquid glue to the 14.35cm x 6.5cm DSP & adhere to the front left panel of the card.
At this step I chose a striped pattern from the Wildflower Birthday DSP pack & fussy cut the gold scalloped pattern for a different visual effect.
Step 6: Apply liquid glue to the 10cm x 3.5cm DSP & adhere to the front of the hinged flap.
At this step I chose to add some Coastal Cabana to the flap with a blending brush rather than DSP as the image I was using was quite large & busy.
Step 7: Stamp a sentiment on Basic White scrap & die cut or fussy cut.
I stamped the sentiment from Beautiful Butterflies in Night of Navy.
At this step I chose to add a Blueberry Bushel matte behind the sentiment by die cutting with the Delightful Wishes banner & then trimming in half before adhering to the back of the sentiment. This gave a border at each end of the sentiment.
Step 8: Adhere sentiment to hinge flap with liquid glue or dimensionals.
Instead of adding the sentiment at this step, I added the image from Wildflower Birthday then added the sentiment with dimensionals.
Step 9: Add die cuts, ribbon or other embellishments as desired.
With all of the gold in the DSP I chose to only add a few Iridescent Faceted gems which are from my retired stash.
Now, here is the finished card that I created with these instructions:
Here is another card made with the same instructions but I added a contrasting matte at Step 5 & adjusted the measurements by .5cm for the DSP which is the gorgeous Marbled Elegance.
This was a great way to create something a little different & is a great base for a whole range of layouts & finishes as you can see. You're only limited by your imagination.
That's it for this post, I hope you've enjoyed it. Now for some news & information from Stampin' Up®.
Stampin' Up® have many ways of shopping with a physical catalogue, online shopping & in person events. When items are about to be retired or are running low they are put on the 'Last Chance' list which means that there is limited stock & when it runs out, it's gone.
Stampin' Up® also have loads of additional products available only online. These are called Online exclusives & have no end date, when the stock is sold out, that's the end of it.

EXCITING NEWS!
I recently started a Web design course as I want to create a website for my business & am not very tech savvy & needed professional help.
The course runs until the end of the year & by then I will have a brand new website where I can have my blog, a shop front to sell my products & eventually links to a newsletter.
I hope to have this up and running by the new year with any bugs ironed out & all my products transferred to the new site. Currently I blog via this site - Blogspot - my products are available on my Facebook page & I don't have a newsletter yet. Moving to the new platform will enable me to have all of these goals realised & everything in the one place.
This is a work in progress but I will keep you informed as I progress. It's very exciting but also a little scary.
Fingers crossed 🤞 it all comes together smoothly & I'm a quick learner! 😁
If you would like to purchase any of my creations that I feature in my blogs they can be found in my FaceBook shop at craftedbyalison or you can order something unique.
I hope you've enjoyed today's post.
My next post will be on Wednesday when I use the Colour Coach cards I created in my 1/10/25 post to play around with colour combinations.
Next Sunday's post will feature some spectacular dies called Party Banners which are HUGE but perfect for creating banners for celebrations & parties as well as cards!
I hope you can join me for both of them & come back for more.
Til next take, take care & keep creating.
