Mid week blog#189 - Card sketch #14

Hello & welcome to my blog.

My name is Alison & I live in beautiful Melbourne, Australia.

For those of you who have previously visited my blog & are now returning, thank you. For those of you who are here for the first time, welcome!

Here's a little bit about me. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies, embossing folders, projects & sometimes special DSP and Wednesday evenings when I highlight a technique, fun folds or tools & tips. I would love to hear from you if you have any questions or suggestions & my email address for that is craftedbyalison@gmail.com.

Every so often I like to use a sketch to create with. Sketches are a fun way to explore layouts of cards, tags & scrapbook pages.

I have used sketches many times, both Stampin' Up®'s from their catalogues & ones that I have created myself. You can see previous sketches of mine from 11/6/25 & 26/2/25. I have only provided links to posts from this year but if you are interested in more ideas & sketches you can search my blog for more. Links to Stampin' Up®'s sketches will be provided the next time I post one of their sketches.

Today I decided to use the power of three as my focal point for the sketch. Here's the sketch...

For this sketch one of the small banners from the Party Banners dies was my inspiration. I layered 3 of the same size across the front of a card base with a matte behind them. Using this layout & the Celebratory Sips DSP I created this...

This is a bold, bright card with Peach Pie as the base which I chose to compliment the striking, stripey pattern of the DSP.
Two of the banners were diecut in the retired Rich Razzleberry as the colour just worked beautifully against the deep orange paper. These banners were then embossed with the Glass & Gardens embossing folder for a little bit of 3D effect.
A third banner was cut in Basic White with some Old Olive ink blended across the front before the sentiment from Cheers & Sips was stamped in the same colour.
I then spaced the banners from the top left to bottome right of the card, attaching the centre, white banner over the Razzleberry ones & added dimensionals so they would pop up off the card.
I had some fussy cut images left from a previous project & chose two colours that complemented the project & adhered them & a few small flowers.
The final step was to add some Strawberry Slush & Pretty in Pink gems & a good splash of Wink of Stella to the glasses. Here's a closeup so you can see the embossing & juuust make out the glitter from the Wink of Stella.

This was such a quick card to make as I already had the images on hand but the sketch itself is also a nice, easy one to play around with different papers, textures or even stampings.
I enjoyed creating with this sketch & hope you enjoyed my creation.

That's all I have for you for this post. My next post will be on Sunday where I will be sharing some cards I made with the Calm & Bright kit while on a short break recently with my husband.

Next week's mid week blog will feature a funfold because I love funfolds!

I hope you can join me for both of them.

Til next time, take care & keep creating! XX Alison
