Maintaining special friendships with Friends For Life stamps & dies

Hello & welcome to my blog,

My name is Alison & I live in beautiful Melbourne, Australia. For those of you who have previously visited my blog & are now returning, thank you. For those of you who are here for the first time, welcome!

Here's a little bit about me. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies, embossing folders, projects & sometimes special DSP and Wednesday evenings when I highlight a technique, fun folds or tools & tips. I would love to hear from you if you have any questions or suggestions & my email address for that is craftedbyalison@gmail.com.

Stampin' Up® launched their new Annual Catalogue in May & it's a beauty! It's set out quite differently to previous catalogues but there are benefits to that. They now have sectioned it to have beginners, which is a step by step collection of materials in kits, then there is quick & easy where you select base materials & packs of pre-printed or diecut materials plus some stamp sets then there is create your way where you choose all the materials, stamps etc yourself & create your way! In the quick & easy section Stampin' Up® have also provided some inspiration with a colour wheel & information of various ways to use colour combinations. There is a section explaining 4 different ways to vary your colours - Monochromatic, Complementary, Analogous & Triadic. It's a wonderful tool to help with creativity & I shared my first post using it in my midweek blog of 29/5/24 & also in my midweek blog of 24/7/24 but it's not what this week's post is about, that is something I will explore more in future blogs.

This week's post is about keeping in touch with friends. Friendships are very important & everyone loves to receive something nice in the mail, especially if all you usually get is junk mail or bills. With that in mind I have created a little set of notecards inspired by a creation from the Annual Catalogue. I'll be gifting the set to my daughter who asked for some smaller cards to have on hand for birthdays or notes. I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoyed creating them.

I used the Friends For Life stamps & dies which are part of the Full Of Life suite. There is also some stunning, bright 6"x6" DSP plus iridescent gems & ribbon.

Above are the 12 note cards I created with colours chosen from the DSP - Melon Mambo, Blueberry Bushel, Pumpkin Pie, Lemon Lime Twist, Daffodil Delight & Shy Shamrock.

The notecards measure 5" x 3 1/2". Normally I use metric measurements but for this project it was easier to use inches to suit the envelope measurements. Half of them open in the landscape view & the other half is portrait.

There are two Basic White mattes for each card measuring 4 1/4" x 2 3/4", one for the front & one for the inside. For the front of each card I used the same stamped image, stamped 3 times in decreasing strength, as a background but changed the colours to suit the cards. Some were 2nd & 3rd generation stamped, some had complementary colours used to lighten the colour. I also stamped & diecut hearts & leaves in each colour.

I then stamped a variety of different sentiments over the background images. There are also a couple that have part of the sentiment diecut, raised on dimensionals or glue dots & one of the Shy Shamrock sentiments also has a layer of clear embossing over it. The hearts & leaves were added next, some raised on dimensionals or glue dots.  For ease of adhering I used some Adhesive sheets behind the cardstock when diecutting the Friend sentiment.

For the inside of the card I stamped a matching image before adhering it.

Here are the finished notecards with co-ordinating embellishments added.

Blueberry Bushel

Daffodil Delight

Lemon Lime Twist

Melon Mambo

Pumpkin Pie

Shy Shamrock

All of the embellishments are retired stock except for the Adhesive Backed Sparkle gems as I'm trying really hard to use up my stash this year!

I love how these bright notecards turned out & they were very easy to create. A bit of an assembly line process helps to cut down on time.

That's all I have for you this week, I hope you've enjoyed this set of notecards created with this fun stamp & die set. It's a great set to have on hand as it's versatile for many different occasions, young, old, birthdays, 'thinking of you', sympathy or just keeping in touch.
There is still much I want to play with from this suite so in a few weeks I will have some more lovely creations for you, made with more from this suite.

This week's featured kit celebrates the beachy life. The Boho Beach kit is a beautiful soft toned kit with lots of lovely reminders of the summer weather. Now is the perfect time in Melbourne to be crafting with this kit to remind us of what is ahead!

Here's how Stampin' Up® describes the kit...

Sit back, relax, and take family and friends to the beach from the comfort of your home with our latest kit: the Boho Beach Kit! It comes with everything you need to make eight beach-inspired cards, evoking peace and relaxation in mere minutes! The acrylic-poured-paint art style used in this kit creates a dazzling marbled colour effect. Create your own cards with boho beach style and send a friendly note to the people you love today!

If you feel that you'd like to add this to your list then click here to purchase one from my online store. Please be aware though that the numbers have been low in the shop as it's a very popular kit, so if you find that it's not available when you visit my shop, please check back a few days later and hopefully it will be fully stocked again.
A lot of demonstrators use the special Host Code for their customers but I'm trying it this year as a new idea to see if this is what you, my customers would like to use. If you shop with me then don't forget to use this month's host code  VG7GXPAJ. This will allow me to pass on any hostess benefits to customers when the sales reach the required qualifying amount.

Lastly, there have been lots of great items in the clearance rack so make sure you check them out using this link to my online store.

If you would like to purchase any of my creations that I feature in my blogs they can be found in my FaceBook shop at craftedbyalison or you can order something unique.
