More creations with Country Flowers
Hello & welcome to my blog,
My name is Alison & I live in beautiful Melbourne, Australia. For those of you who have previously visited my blog & are now returning, thank you. For those of you who are here for the first time, welcome!
Here's a little bit about me. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies, embossing folders, projects & sometimes special DSP and Wednesday evenings when I highlight a technique, fun folds or tools & tips. I would love to hear from you if you have any questions or suggestions & my email address for that is craftedbyalison@gmail.com.
Stampin' Up® launched their new Annual Catalogue in May & it's a beauty! It's set out quite differently to previous catalogues but there are benefits to that. They now have sectioned it to have beginners, which is a step by step collection of materials in kits, then there is quick & easy where you select base materials & packs of pre-printed or diecut materials plus some stamp sets then there is create your way where you choose all the materials, stamps etc yourself & create your way! In the quick & easy section Stampin' Up® have also provided some inspiration with a colour wheel & information of various ways to use colour combinations. There is a section explaining 4 different ways to vary your colours - Monochromatic, Complementary, Analogous & Triadic. It's a wonderful tool to help with creativity & I shared my first post using it in my midweek blog of 29/5/24 & also in my midweek blog of 24/7/24 but it's not what this week's post is about, that is something I will explore more in future blogs.
In my 14/8/24 midweek blog I created a whole heap of images with the Country Flowers stamps & dies plus lots of Inks & Stampin' Blends®. In last Sunday, 18/8/24's blog I shared 2 cards created with the coloured images. In today's blog I will be showing you two more creations made with those images.
For today's cards I played around with the background to create a little bit more visual interest.
My first card starts with a Basic White base & has a Moody Mauve matte that is embossed with the Dashing Designs folder. Over this I layered a piece of Country Lace DSP that had the edges torn for a distressed finish. The sentiment is stamped in Basic Gray on a gift tag made with the Tailor Made Tags dies & has a pail with one of the floral bouquets added. This tag is then angled & raised slightly on dimensionals & glue dots. The final touch are some 2022-24 In Colour Pearls & a Braided Linen Thread bow.
For the second card I chose a few different layers & techniques.
The base is Basic Beige & there's a layer of Country Lace DSP but in between I added an embossed layer in two tones. This was achieved by applying a strip of Tear'n'tape to two pieces of cardstock - Pebbled Path & Pecan Pie - then carefully running it through the embossing machine with the Eyelet folder. They were then applied to the card base.
The next step was blending Boho Blue & Pecan Pie onto some Basic White cardstock. The sentiment was stamped in Memento, Tuxedo Black, directly over the blending. A stool, teapot & floral bouquet were then added. To ensure that all three different pieces were even on the card I added different adhesives - liquid glue for the stool, a single layer of glue dots for the teapot & a double layer of glue dots for the bouquet. This also gave a nice, subtle 3D effect. After adding this to the card I finished by adding some 2024-26 In Colour Shimmer gems & a bow made with Natural Tones Linen Thread which will be available very soon in the new September - December '24 mini catalogue.
I'm really happy with how these cards came together. I started with a browse on Pinterest & played around with the different elements & ideas until I was happy.
