Hello & welcome to my blog,
My name is Alison & I live in beautiful Melbourne, Australia. For those of you who have previously visited my blog & are now returning, thank you. For those of you who are here for the first time, welcome!
Here's a little bit about me. I love creating cards & gifts for my loved ones & this blog will show you how to create something special for those you love. I blog twice a week, once on a Sunday where I mainly showcase a stamp set or dies, embossing folders, projects & sometimes special DSP and Wednesday evenings when I highlight a technique, fun folds or tools & tips. I would love to hear from you if you have any questions or suggestions & my email address for that is craftedbyalison@gmail.com.
Stampin' Up® launched their new Annual Catalogue in May & it's a beauty! It's set out quite differently to previous catalogues but there are benefits to that. They now have sectioned it to have beginners, which is a step by step collection of materials in kits, then there is quick & easy where you select base materials & packs of pre-printed or diecut materials plus some stamp sets then there is create your way where you choose all the materials, stamps etc yourself & create your way! In the quick & easy section Stampin' Up® have also provided some inspiration with a colour wheel & information of various ways to use colour combinations. There is a section explaining 4 different ways to vary your colours - Monochromatic, Complementary, Analogous & Triadic. It's a wonderful tool to help with creativity & I shared my first post using it in my midweek blog of 29/5/24 & also in my midweek blog of 24/7/24 but it's not what this week's post is about, that is something I will explore more in future blogs.
Male cards seem to be a little more difficult to create than female cards. There are lots more stamps & papers that are available with flowers, nature etc. but luckily I have a gorgeous stamp & die set that is perfect for not only the males in your life but anyone who loves to fish. It's called Gone Fishing & has been featured in previous blogs on 13/8/23, 31/1/24 & 4/2/24. It's a great stamp set & has dies that you can create a tackle box effect with! I love it! Here is my latest creation, I hope you love it.
This card is simple to create as it starts with a simple sketch, adds some DSP & has some simple stamping along with some images.
The base is Early Espresso which contrasts so nicely with the retired Let's Go Fishing DSP pieces. It doesn't cover all of the card front so that you see a little of the base as well.
To this is added a Pebbled Path matte with a Very Vanilla matte for the sentiment.
The images are stamped in Pebbled Path, Copper Clay, Crumb Cake, Basic Beige & Pale Papaya before being diecut with the Gone Fishing dies.
To create a focal point with the fish they are raised on dimensionals. There is also a piece of Linen Thread adhered under them and beneath the mattes.
The final touch is the addition of some Adhesive Backed Swirl dots.
As I said, a quick & easy layout & card. The sentiment inside is the end of the front sentiment, it reads 'come to those who wait'. To create this split in the sentiment I masked part of the sentiment with tape & removed it before stamping onto the matte then masked the other half for the inside.
That's all I have for you this week. Now I'd like to share some of the latest news from Stampin' Up®.
